•  proofreading: When you've spent weeks slaving over a document, the    last thing you want is to see it in print with mistakes in it. That's where our    proofreading service comes in. We correct spelling, grammar and    punctuation, and check references and the sequencing of page, chapter and    diagram numbers. We make sure you've been accurate and consistent    throughout your document. Unlike editing, we do not restructure the text, so    have a chat with us first to see whether your document needs editing or    proofreading.

•  editing: Editing will improve the sense, style and logical ordering of your    document, in addition to all the services covered by proofreading. We will    resolve legal implications (eg relating to copyright and libel), and iron out    inconsistencies in terminology as well as ambiguities and contradictions.    Thorough fact-checking comes as standard, and we'll also double-check    statistics for accuracy. We will make sure the language you use is inclusive    and non-discriminatory, in line with current legislation and practice. We even    test every telephone number and weblink, and may suggest helpful additions    to your document such as an index, acknowledgements or a preface. In short,    we're here to make sure that, for your peace of mind, the content and style of    your document are of the highest quality and suitable for its intended    audience, and that no embarrassing errors slip through the net. We'll always    inform you of the changes we suggest, and you will be able to accept or    reject each amendment.

•  research and writing: We offer a cost-effective research and writing    service, so before you ring that expensive consultant, call us. Although we    specialise in education, health and architecture, we also offer expertise in    most non-technical subjects and will work to your brief, conducting desk    research if necessary. We also offer a rewriting service, for example to apply    Plain English, adjust non-native English or just translate what your consultant    has written into a language your clients can understand.

•  indexing: There's no substitute for the human brain when it comes to    creating an     intelligent index. Our awarding-winning indexes are prepared    by hand, not generated     by a computer. They can be adapted to fit your    requirements. We'll use typefaces,     subheadings and indenting to present    your index in the most reader-friendly and     useable form possible.

•  bibliographies: We're fussy about crossing the t's and dotting the i's –    and nowhere more so than in our bibliographies, where complete accuracy is    essential right down to the level of punctuation. We can compile to Harvard    style or a style of your choosing, and can create an annotated bibliography if    required. Call us on 0121 420 3245 for advice on the sort of bibliography that    would be most suitable for your project.

•  abstracting and summarising: Writing executive summaries of large    documents or abstracts for scientific or academic papers is a skilled job. Let    the experts take the hassle out of summarising your document – just give us    a required word count and we'll do the rest and produce a readable,    accessible and accurate synopsis of your publication.

•  presentation materials: How about having a series of presentation    slides for that publication you're launching at conference? We design, write    and publish slides to an excellent professional standard, making you and    your publication the highlight of the event!

•  glossaries and thesauruses: Our world is peppered with acronyms and    jargon, but how does a newcomer to your organisation get to grips with them    all? Through a professional glossary compiled by WordWright of course! We    also compile policy summaries, digital archives, metadata and thesauruses    for more complex information – call 0121 420 3245 for details

•  writing for the web: Website content requires different attributes than    those found in a physical publication because readers tend to scan and move    around the page quickly. We can write new text for your website, or adapt    existing text to make it more user-friendly. We have experience with several    content management systems, so working with your web editing suite or script    editing tools is not a problem.

•  forms, surveys and questionnaires: If you use forms in your    organisation, how many are returned incomplete because the recipient has    not understood the instructions? We offer a full design and writing service in    this very neglected area, so tap into our expertise for all your questionnaires    and forms. Your clients will thank you for it!

•  writing style guidelines: Has your organisation got a style guide? Is it up    to date? For several of our clients, we have built up and maintained a    comprehensive style guide over the years that forms an important part of the    knowledge-base of their organisations. Don't reinvent the wheel every time    you start a writing project: let us gather all your stylistic decisions together in    one place so that you can make it available to everyone in your organisation.

•  liaison with design and print: If you are working on a print production    project, let us do the chasing for you. We liaise frequently with designers and    printers and can work with your suppliers or source these services for you.

•  working with authors: No time to chase your authors and contractors?    Leave the leg work to us and we will make sure everything is done to maintain    your schedules. We are happy to offer advice to authors on print and web    publications – if this is part of a larger job we are working on, our advice is    free and no additional charge is made for liaising with your writers.

•  writer training and advice: With over 20 years' experience, we want to    share our knowledge of writing with you. Our seminars will enable your staff to    deliver your message with greater accuracy, effectiveness and self-        assurance. Seminars can be as short as two hours, or as long as a day    depending on your requirements. Choose from ‘Basic proofreading',    ‘Writing in plain English' or ‘Projecting your organisation through style    and tone'. Tailored courses are also available on request.
